ZIRCONIUM COPPER
Pure copper is an excellent electrical conductor but it is not particularly hard and it softens easily at elevated temperatures. Adding a small amount of zirconium into copper raises the softening temperature substantially and also the strength of copper is improved. Zirconium content of 0.15 per cent increases the softening temperature as much as 300°C while the effect on the electrical conductivity is not significant. Precipitation hardening metals require a good experience and knowledge to obtain optimized properties in the final product. We have developed our manufacturing process to produce material with fine grain size and a good combination of strength, conductivity and softening temperature
Mipalloy Z Zirconium Copper is a copper-base alloy having exceptionally high electrical and thermal conductivity coupled with reasonably high strength and hardness.
C15000, Zirconium Copper is an excellent welding material with very high softening temperature. Adding a small amount of zirconium into copper raises the softening temperature dramatically and also the strength of copper is improved. The softening temperature of Cu.Zr. is very high: about 500 C.
Typical usage is for the spot welding of coated steels.
